A history with horses...

From 2003, Rosthwaite Farm became the home of Peter and Pamela Bice (nee Bell) who has shown horses with her family since 1977.

Back in the 1970’s Jan Bell (nee Hewson) stood a son of the Aristocrat of Flawforth, Bamborough Aristocrat, at their beautiful property Lynton, at Goulburn.

We are proud and grateful to all the horses, and horse people we have been lucky enough to know.

A long, long time ago....

It began before I was born... Back in the early 1960’s, Mum, Jan Hewson, played No 1 for Goulburn Ladies Polocrosse Team.

She paid two bob a week to keep her trusty part standardbred mare behind “Kenmore” at Goulburn.

She tells tales of playing all over the region; of sliding truckloads of horses down the muddy trails of the Clyde Mountain to play on the coast; of doing ones stable before going out, despite being dressed in a ball gown.

Trinket was as bold as brass and utterly sound.  She’d duck her shoulder under the challenging horse and push them off their feet.

Trinket lived to about 44.

So very many horses later.... Here we are at Rosthwaite Farm.
